Hello! I'm Toby, the doggie face of Dogs Across Australia. Being a former Pound Dog, I know the difficulties Poundies encounter when trying to find a new home. Firstly, we Mini Foxies are very popular, and there are a lot of us around—that is one of the reasons we are over-represented in pounds.
Mini Foxies are Aussies through and through! We are one of only a couple of Australian dog breeds, along with Kelpies.
I'd just like to tell you a little bit about me and my mates. Firstly, I'm not bad looking: I'm tan and white, while some of my mates are black and white, or tricolour (black, white and tan). I've got great muscle tone and short, fine, sleek hair—you should see the looks I get walking down the street!
My personality? If I do say so myself, I'm a pretty nice fella. People like me, I like them. Kids are great fun to play with, too, but I don't expect to be teased by them.
My place in the family? My place is with the family. I like to live indoors, with free access to the garden via my doggie door. I can say with no sense of embarrassment, that I'm a ... heh hem ... well, a lap dog. I like to sit on people and look into their eyes, or travel in the car to help you pick up the milk, and most definitely to go walkies. Please take me walkies! You need me to show you the way—you know you do!
I also like days at the beach (but don't forget to take shade, and plenty of water for me to drink), and I enjoy caravan travel because most park owners think I'm cool, as do bed and breakfast establishments.
My special needs? To be provided with a warm, snug bed, and to wear woolly jumpers or parkers in winter—and I rather like two small meals a day instead of just one.
Health? I am healthy, but thanks for asking. Ensure that I am C3, or preferably C5, vaccinated as soon as I join your family—as well as de-sexed and microchipped—and you won't have too much trouble with me after that. Well, every now and again I may need my nails clipped.
There are a lot of us in pounds; can you help me by saving a couple of my little Aussie mates? Ta, Toby.
